On April 29th, with the support of the U.S. Embassy Baku and American Councils for International Education, EducationUSA Azerbaijan organized the Alumni Fair, which took place at the Baku American Center. The Fair aimed to provide interested Azerbaijanis with information and insight into the U.S. education system. During the fair, 23 alumni of U.S. degree programs presented information about their U.S. alma-maters to interested students. In fact, Noah Drezner, the Associate Professor of Higher Education from Columbia University, attended the Alumni Fair to represent the Teacher College of Columbia University. It was a great chance for prospective students to talk directly to alumni and receive more detailed information on university degree programs, application procedures, scholarships, student life, and cultural adaptation in the U.S. Participants asked about deadlines, admission requirements, and scholarship opportunities. A total of 243 students attended the Alumni Fair.
The Fair organizers prepared a scavenger hunt game, which consisted of having student teams ask the university representatives specific questions from a list. During the fair, EducationUSA volunteers worked to create 5 teams for the scavenger hunt and managed the team members’ work. The first and second place teams were announced at the end of the Fair.
The Alumni Fair was promoted through the EducationUSA Azerbaijan, U.S Embassy Baku, and Baku American Center Facebook pages. In total, the posts were shared 52 times, reached 26.395 people, and liked by 2525.
The Alumni Fair was broadcast on Facebook live twice, specifically on the EducationUSA Azerbaijan and Baku American Center pages. In total, 1,862 people were reached and 845 people watched the Fair.
