Ms. Gulunaz Anvar Isgandarova, the coordinator of the American Corner in Ganja, has visited the U.S. last spring during the OW program. She participated at the annual conference for American Center Coordinators organized by the U.S. Embassy Baku. Gulunaz mentioned that the group was very successful because they all are librarians and the focus area is the same – to establish central digital library, to design courses by which they can provide direct and convenient access to the library to those individuals who live with disabilities.

Ms. Narmin Elshad Kazimova, the coordinator of the American Corner in Lenkoran, has visited the U.S. last spring during the OW program. She participated at the annual conference for American Center Coordinators organized by the U.S. Embassy Baku. Narmin is grateful for the chance to have participated in OW program. She organizes a handwork course for kids at the library to bring kids to the library from their early ages based on program she observed at the Worcester Public Library, Frances Perkins Branch.

Ms. Sevda Asadulla qizi Ismayilova, the coordinator of the American Corner in Khachmaz, has visited the U.S. last spring during the OW program. She participated at the annual conference for American Center Coordinators organized by the U.S. Embassy Baku. Sevda spoke about the role of keeping/saving the antiquity of monuments, technology and a wide variety of resources, service at the library, and courses for the people with disabilities that she witnessed in Massachusetts. Sevda organized courses – where volunteers read newspapers, magazines and books, all of which are not easily accessible to the blind or visually impaired, for local people with disabilities. As a result of her visit to U.S. libraries, Sevda now has three people with disabilities coming to the American Center in Khachmaz library now.

Ms. Sevda Imanverdi qizi Akhundova, the coordinator of the American Corner in Salyan, has visited the U.S. last spring during the OW program. She participated at the annual conference for American Center Coordinators organized by the U.S. Embassy Baku. Sevda was impressed by the use of technology and the digital library, conditions offered to people with disabilities at the Worcester Public Library. After she came back from Open World Sevda organized a Creative Club for the teens at age 13-15 on her observations at the meeting of the Library Teen Advisory Group.

Ms. Irada Makhsud Mahmudova, the coordinator of the American Corner in Kurdamir, Irada has visited the U.S. last spring during the OW program. She participated at the annual conference for American Center Coordinators organized by the U.S. Embassy Baku. Irada is proud to be OW alumna like her other colleagues. She was also impressed at how people with disabilities come to the library and different courses are offered to them. After the group came back from the program the coordinators sent a report to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan seeking for support of the Ministry for future projects. They had the chance to discuss details of the projects that they are planning to implement with Ms. Latifa Mammadova, a delegate from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, on the Charlotte, NC May 2010 OW the Academy for Educational Development program.

Ms.Shahla Salim Khudiyeva, the facilitator of the group, has visited the US last spring during the OW program. She works as a Coordinator American Corner in Baku. She participated at the annual conference for American Center Coordinators organized by the US Embassy Baku. Shahla was impressed by the hands on science activities available at the Worchester Art Museum Library. She also emphasized that one of the different and very positive of U.S. libraries is that some of the libraries offer sessions for the unemployed people thus directing them to find jobs.
